Lord of the Dance – an alternative version

Kings of the Scrap

to be sung (with gusto) to the tune of Lord of the Dance.

We scrapped in the morning when the day had begun

And we wrestled on the floor, which was really rather fun

Then we went downstairs and over cars we fought

Mummy said “this is all getting rather fraught”.

CHORUS

Scrap, scrap, wherever you may be,

We are the kings of the scrap you see

And we’ll scrap over whatever it may be

Such as who gets to have the green cutlery.

Sometimes we play so nicely, we even share

But soon there’ll be a shriek of “that really isn’t fair!”

He’s got my tiger, now he’s on my bed

And that’s my cue to whack him over the head.

CHORUS

Scrap, scrap, wherever you may be,

We are the kings of the scrap you see

And we’ll scrap over whatever it may be

Such as who gets to have the green cutlery.

We’re ready to go out, we’re all waiting by the door

And we thought we might as well have a wrestle on the floor

It starts off fun, but now he’s sitting on my face

And the other one’s just bashed me with his mini-suitcase.

CHORUS

Scrap, scrap, wherever you may be,

We are the kings of the scrap you see

And we’ll scrap over whatever it may be

Such as who gets to have the green cutlery.

Look what he’s doing, mum, he’s got my bear

I know I never play with him but still it’s not fair

Now he’s got my book and what’s he doing with my car?

This sharing business has gone too far.

CHORUS

Scrap, scrap, wherever you may be,

We are the kings of the scrap you see

And we’ll scrap over whatever it may be

Such as who gets to have the green cutlery.

Mummy says our fighting is really very bad

We can see that it makes her very very sad

She says she is nothing but a referee

We say, “well that’s life with three boys, mummy.”

CHORUS

Scrap, scrap, wherever you may be,

We are the kings of the scrap you see

And we’ll scrap over whatever it may be

Such as who gets to have the green cutlery.
